Skylight Solar (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us, in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can control it.
What we collect
When you contact us through our website form, WhatsApp, phone or email, we collect the information you choose to give us — typically your name, phone number, email address, property type and details relevant to sizing a solar system (such as your electricity usage or monthly bill). We do not ask for financial or banking details through the website.
If you use our online shop, WooCommerce (the software that runs it) stores basic session and cart information in your browser so the site works correctly. We do not currently process online payments through the website — every enquiry is followed up directly by our team to confirm a final quote.
How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote for your property.
- To contact you about your enquiry by phone, email or WhatsApp.
- To schedule a site assessment or installation, where you’ve asked us to.
- To meet our own legal, accounting and record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties. We only share it where necessary to deliver a service you’ve requested (for example, with an installation partner working on your job), or where the law requires it.
Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies that are necessary for it to function — for example, to remember items in your cart or to keep you logged in to your account. We do not currently run third-party advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated to say so.
How long we keep your information
We keep enquiry and customer information for as long as reasonably needed to provide our services, honour your system’s warranty, and meet our legal and tax record-keeping obligations.
Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, and to ask us to delete it where we’re not legally required to keep it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
